If you have any questions – please email the team at rdoapf@london.gov.uk. Thanks for joining the conversation - your feedback and ideas are essential in creating the future framework for the Royal Docks and Beckton Riverside area.
Back in 2020, you helped us shape the Vision and Principles for the Royal Docks and Beckton Riverside Opportunity Area Planning Framework (OAPF). Through pop-up events, community sessions, one-to-one meetings, youth sessions, and our online website, we had the opportunity to hear your thoughts and gather feedback, ensuring that the Royal Docks and Beckton Riverside becomes: a lively, healthy place, a connected resilient place, an enabled innovative place, and an empowered diverse place.
Since we last talked to you, we have been working hard to put together the strategic framework to guide the future growth in the Royal Docks and Beckton Riverside. Incorporating your feedback on the Vision and Principles, we have prepared a draft OAPF which is now open to consultation from 7 February to 21 March 2022 . The OAPF will help guide where new homes and jobs are provided up to 2041. This includes the infrastructure to support them, for example, public transport, local connections, utilities, and community facilities. The OAPF includes high–level strategies and recommendations that help shape the future of the area. We also came up with some ideas on what this OAPF could mean for seven places and a set of new and improved local connections.
Given that strategic planning affects all of our lives, It is vital that local people sit at the heart of these plans, to ensure future development meets community needs while celebrating the area's heritage.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you again for participating in the previous round of engagement and invite you to give us your thoughts on the consultation draft.

Tell your neighbours and friends to help us spread the word!
Our last contact with you was last Summer when we undertook an engagement programme with communities that live and work in the area. We asked for feedback around different themes to gain knowledge about what you wanted to see and how you wanted the future to look in the area.
We had a phenomenal response with lots of helpful ideas. Since that time though – a lot has changed. So, we are reporting back and asking for more feedback on some ideas we have been working on.
Taking all of your feedback on board we have drafted some visions and principles around four key themes:
Every neighbourhood and place is different, therefore we have applied these themes to each and identified some key actions that could be applied to shape each neighbourhood.
We would like your comments on both – the themes and also our actions for the neighbourhoods within the overall area.
Please click through to the framework for more information – remember - you can keep coming back if you only have limited time to make sure you get all of your ideas down.
Please also share with your friends, family and colleagues on twitter and facebook –we need the local community to join the conversation!
The consultation is running until 27 November 2020.
We haven’t been in touch for a while!
We just wanted to let you know to keep an eye out as we will shortly be publishing another engagement phase following our community engagement last Summer. A lot has changed since last year, so we will be checking how your priorities may have changed.
The feedback we received has been shaped into a vision for the area and principles for future development. We will be asking your input on these.
This is an important part of the OAPF process and it is vital that we have as many local people involved.
Remember the final OAPF document will be considered in all planning applications up to 2041, so this is your opportunity to shape the future of the area.
Please share this website with your friends, family, and colleagues on social media so they can register and become part of this important conversation too!
You can contact us by email: rdoapf@london.gov.uk
